ICMR-NIRT signs MoU with NIPER Hajipur for Collaborative Research

ICMR–National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis (ICMR-NIRT), Chennai, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hajipur, on 16th July 2026 to strengthen collaborative research and academic partnerships in biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences.

The MoU was signed by the Directors of the two institutions in the presence of scientists and faculty members from ICMR-NIRT and the visiting delegation from NIPER Hajipur comprising Prof. K. Ruckmani, Director, Dr. P. Ramalingam, Associate Professor and Head (i/c), Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, and Dr. Abhishek Sahu, Associate Professor and Registrar (i/c), Department of Biotechnology.

The programme featured special lectures by the visiting faculty members. Dr. P. Ramalingam delivered a lecture on "LC MS based omics in drug discovery and development", highlighting the role of mass spectrometry-based omics approaches in pharmaceutical research. Dr. Abhishek Sahu presented a lecture titled "Polymer based Nanozymes as next generation ROS Scavengers", providing insights into emerging nanobiotechnology-based therapeutic strategies for combating oxidative stress.

The MoU reflects the shared commitment of ICMR-NIRT and NIPER Hajipur to promote scientific collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovative research for addressing contemporary healthcare challenges.

The collaboration is expected to foster interdisciplinary research and create new opportunities for scientific innovation, academic exchange, and capacity building for the benefit of healthcare and society.
