Costing of Health Services in India (CHSI) 2.0: Collection of Hospital-wise and Speciality-wise Claims Data from PM-JAY Empanelled Private Hospitals in Chennai and Thiruvallur Districts, Tamil Nadu CHSI 2.0 (PGIMER)

Objectives:

1. To obtain the updated list of PM-JAY empanelled private hospitals in Chennai and Thiruvallur districts. 2. To collect hospital-wise speciality-wise claims processed during the study period (2024-2025). 3. To generate district-level consolidated summaries of speciality-wise claims and prepare a clean dataset and summary tables for reporting and further analysis.

Study Overview:

Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) provides cashless treatment at empanelled public and private hospitals for a defined set of health benefit packages. Chennai district has a high concentration of private healthcare facilities, while Thiruvallur district has both urban and rural populations with increasing healthcare demand. The study aims to collect and compile hospital-wise and speciality-wise claims processed under PM-JAY from empanelled private hospitals in Chennai and Thiruvallur districts.

Study Approach:

The study will be conducted in private hospitals empanelled under PM-JAY in Chennai and Thiruvallur districts of Tamil Nadu. The study design is cross-sectional descriptive data collection using record-based / administrative data. Data will be collected through physical interview with medical staff and entered in Microsoft Excel for completeness and consistency.

Expected Public Health Impact:

District-level information regarding utilisation patterns and speciality-wise claims processed by private hospitals helps in identifying the distribution of services, major specialties utilised and overall participation of private hospitals in PM-JAY. Such information supports program understanding and evidence-based decision-making. The study will prepare consolidated summaries and summary tables for reporting and further analysis.
