PROJECT
Metabolites, Inflammation, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Tuberculosis Patients
May 2025 - April 2027
Objectives:
To investigate the role of hyperglycemia-induced metabolic changes in promoting necroptosis and associated inflammatory responses in tuberculosis patients with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM),
Study Overview:
This study aims to understand how type 2 diabetes affects immune responses in people with tuberculosis, particularly how high blood sugar changes macrophage function. It will examine whether these metabolic changes increase necroptosis and worsen inflammation in TB patients with diabetes.
Study Approach:
This is a cross-sectional immunological study aimed at characterizing host immune responses in tuberculosis patients with T2DM.
Expected Public Health Impact:
This study will improve understanding of the interaction between tuberculosis and type 2 diabetes and help identify potential targets for better treatment strategies to improve patient outcomes.
