PROJECT
In-vitro and in-vivo evaluation of encapsulated mycobacteriophages D29 and TM4 as therapeutic candidates against Mycobacterium tuberculosis
March, 2025 - Feb, 2028
Objectives:
The Stage I objective is to encapsulate the mycobacteriophages D29 and TM4 separately in liposomes and testing its efficiency in in-vitro experiments. The Stage II objective is to determine the in-vivo efficacy, safety, route of administration and the phage type of encapsulated phages in active TB and latent TB animal models.
Study Overview:
This study will determine the ideal dose, efficacy, route of administration, ideal vehicle and the type of phage/s required to consider mycobacteriophage based therapy as the suitable application for treating tuberculosis in shorter duration of treatment and relapse free.
Study Approach:
This is an invitro and invivo based laboratory study
Expected Public Health Impact:
The study will be able to provide evidences for the utility of phage therapy through invitro and invio based preclinical studies.
