ELISA : Its reproducibility and its use in tuberculosis case finding.

        Variation in Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) in quantitating antibodies to PPD using 96 well microtitre plates has been studied. It has been shown that plate to plate variation is of higher order and is more important than variation within the plate. A method has been proposed by means of which it would be possible to reproduce the results within reasonable limits of variation. The possible advantages and the potentiality of ELISA in active tuberculosis case finding programmes have been discussed.
