Admission to Ph.D.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR RESEARCH IN TUBERCULOSIS
(Indian Council of Medical Research)

Highly motivated individuals with good academic credentials and having cleared fellowship exam (CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT) with keen desire to pursue research in frontier areas of Infectious Disease pertaining to tuberculosis and its co-morbidities are invited apply for the Ph.D programme at ICMR-National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis.

ICMR-NIRT is a permanent institute under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and an internationally recognized institution for research in Tuberculosis (TB) and its co-morbidities such as HIV. It is a Supranational Reference Laboratory and a WHO Collaborating Centre for TB Research and Training. The Institute is equipped with state-of-the art research facilities.

Who can apply? : Candidates having Master's degree (M.Sc./M.Tech./M.Pharm) from a recognized university (securing not less than 60% marks for general category candidates and not less than 55% for SC/ST/PwD candidates in all major examinations from higher secondary (10 + 2) onwards or equivalent in CGPA) in any branch of Biological Sciences and a valid fellowship such as CSIR-UGC (NET) JRF/ICMR-JRF/DBT-JRF alone can apply.

Age Limit : Upper age limit is 28 years, relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates as per Govt. of India rules.

Application procedure: Interested candidates may apply by filling the application form along with a covering letter and curriculum vitae by e-mail to   nirtdirector.ps@icmr.gov.in

Selection procedure : The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their applications, and these shortlisted candidates will be selected based on a personal interview.

While appearing for the interview the candidates have to bring attested copies and originals of the relevant documents (Mark sheets and passing certificates of higher secondary examination i.e. 10+2 onwards, proof of date of birth, caste certificate and JRF award certificates).

The decision of the Director/Admission Committee will be final and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence will mount to disqualification. Candidates should note that non-fulfilment of the eligibility criterion will result in cancellation of candidature at any stage of admission process.
